What can I upload?

Denial letters, medical bills, itemized statements, Explanation of Benefits (EOB), Good Faith Estimates, prior-authorization requests, or debt-collection notices. A photo, a PDF, or pasted text all work. The clearer and more complete the document, the better the read.

What is free, and what costs money?

Translating an insurance statement is always free, and the free tier includes one core document analysis each month — no card required. If the evidence supports a letter, a flat $9 per eligible case unlocks the finished letter and step-by-step instructions for that case. Pro includes unlimited core reviews, with letters included whenever your documents support one; if they do not, we tell you instead of selling a letter. You review, edit, and send everything yourself.

How long does it take?

Processing time depends on the file quality, number of pages, and checks your case needs. Lysco shows progress during the review. You can return to your case to check its status.

Appeal a denial

Accepted Answer

Upload the denial letter. Lysco finds the real reason, the proof you are missing, and your appeal deadline, then drafts an appeal plus an evidence checklist. For appeals, a second pass checks the laws and facts against your own documents. You review, edit, and mail or upload it yourself.

Check a medical bill

Accepted Answer

Upload the itemized bill. Lysco flags duplicate charges, miscoded or unbundled services, and prices above the fair rate, then drafts a correction-or-negotiation letter you can send to the billing office. Estimates are directional — final pricing depends on your provider, plan, and location.

Understand an insurance statement (EOB)

Upload the "this is not a bill" Explanation of Benefits. Lysco translates it into plain English — what was charged, what insurance actually paid, what you owe, and which lines are worth questioning. This one is always free.

Dispute a surprise bill

Upload the bill and your Good Faith Estimate. Lysco checks whether federal surprise-bill protections apply (the federal dispute process may be available when one provider's or facility's bill is at least $400 more than its own Good Faith Estimate and its other requirements are met), compares the documents line by line, and helps you prepare the dispute and submission.

Find help paying

Tell Lysco the hospital and a little about your situation. Many nonprofit hospitals are required to offer financial assistance — Lysco checks whether you might qualify and drafts the charity-care application asking for a discount or for the balance to be forgiven.

Handle a debt collector

Upload the collection notice. Before you pay a cent, Lysco drafts a debt-validation request making the collector prove the debt is really yours and correct — and can help you dispute errors with the credit bureaus.

What does Pro include?

How do I upgrade or cancel?

Accepted Answer

Upgrade or cancel anytime in Settings — no fees or contracts. After cancellation, Pro access continues through the current billing period. A completed $9 letter purchase is not refundable; if you were charged in error, email support@lysco.com.

Question 13

How do I update my insurance details?

In Settings, add or edit your insurance profile — plan type, deductible, out-of-pocket max, and state. Lysco uses it to tailor analyses to your actual coverage.

Question 14

How do I delete my data?

Accepted Answer

Go to Settings to delete a case or request account deletion. The deletion flow removes active cases, files, letters, assistant memory, and account data and reports a warning if cleanup is incomplete. Limited consent, security, deletion-audit, payment, legal, and backup records follow the retention exceptions in the Privacy Policy.

Is my information safe?

Accepted Answer

Account files go to private storage through a signed upload link, data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and selected sensitive fields receive a second application-level encryption layer. Not every database field has that second layer, and not every server-rendered read creates a separate audit event. Lysco does not sell your data or use it to train models. Staff do not open case content in normal operation; narrowly authorized access may occur for requested support, security, abuse investigation, or legal obligations. Will Lysco contact my insurer, hospital, or a collector?

Accepted Answer

No — never. Lysco prepares the letter and instructions; you decide if and when to send anything. We do not call, mail, fax, or speak to any third party on your behalf. You stay in control of everything that goes out under your name.

Question 17

My photo will not read, or the analysis looks incomplete

Accepted Answer

Retake the photo in good light, flat and fully in frame, or upload the original PDF instead. You can also paste the document text directly. The more complete the document, the better the result.

Question 18

I think the analysis got something wrong

Accepted Answer

Lysco builds every read from your own documents and shows its sources, so you can check each finding against the original. You can correct extracted details before generating a letter, and for appeals a second pass verifies the laws and facts. If something still looks off, email support@lysco.com.

Question 19

I missed my appeal deadline

Accepted Answer

You may still have options. Ask your plan in writing, right away, whether it will accept a late appeal, and explain why you were late. Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans must consider good cause. External review is usually available only after the internal appeal is decided. Upload your denial letter and Lysco will show what still applies.
